Digital Safeguarding Training

Whilst there are countless positives to digital lives, it can also be dangerous without the proper safety measures in place. Many of the sites and services that children and young people are using are designed for adults and without safeguarding in mind. It is important that children know how to stay safe online, know what is appropriate and who they can turn to if there is a problem.

This course is aimed at staff in international schools and designed to supplement generic safeguarding knowledge by providing awareness of the risks that children and young people face online and practical suggestions for protecting learners. The course includes up-to-date insights from relevant international research and recognises the variety and complexity of the issues experienced by children and young people in different international jurisdictions.

For those joining this online three – hour real time interactive course, delegates will receive up to date information in understanding the online risks to children. Places will be limited so please register soon. The course will be delivered via Zoom by our associates from Praesidio who have particular expertise in digital safeguarding.

What will the training cover?

Introduce the complexity of being a digital citizen in an international context

Explore content risks, including idealised lives and bodies, self-harm, sexual and violent content, and disinformation

Explore contact risks, including cyberbullying and grooming and exploitation

Explore conduct risks, including sexting/sending nudes and digital footprints

Explore contract risks, including T&Cs, data, harmful design norms and endless scrolling

Offer practical tips and recommendations for keeping learners safe
